- Creativity
There are three easy steps to using the flash Cards.
Step 1 – Introduction
Introduce the child to the letters, words, colours, shapes, animals or opposites featured on the cards. Begin by reading each card out loud. Mix up the cards and repeat the activity. Ask the child to repeat after you, the letters, words, shapes etc. that appear on the card.
Step 2 – Practice
Play games to provide plenty of practice.
Example:
- Show me the apple
- Hide the letter “a”
- Find the spinach
- Point to the colour red
Step 3 – Application and Enrichment
Point to each picture and ask , “What is this?”
Make sure that the child understands the questions and is able to answer them completely and correctly before moving on to another card.
After mastering steps 1 to 3, let the child be the “teacher” and ask questions.
After the child has reviewed all the cards, he or she should be ready to apply the concepts in a series of creative activities that involve sorting, matching, pairing, colouring and sequencing.
Have loads of fun!
