Step 2 – Practice
Play games to provide plenty of practice.
Example:
- Show me the apple
- Hide the letter “a”
- Find the spinach
- Point to the colour red
Step 3 – Application and Enrichment
Point to each picture and ask , “What is this?”
Make sure that the child understands the questions and is able to answer them completely and correctly before moving on to another card.
After mastering steps 1 to 3, let the child be the “teacher” and ask questions.
After the child has reviewed all the cards, he or she should be ready to apply the concepts in a series of creative activities that involve sorting, matching, pairing, colouring and sequencing.
